With the choice of candidate for Senate presidency reported to be slowly tearing the All Progressive Congress (APC) apart, Shehu Sani, a Senator-elect for Kaduna Central, said that the next Senate President must emerge from a free and fair process devoid of any sectional interest.
“The new Senate President must emerge from a process that is free from ethnic, religious or sectional sentiments,” Sani told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Kaduna.
“The senate president must reflect the spirit and emerging order, and must follow through the programmes and manifestoes of the APC,” Sani said.
He therefore advised those campaigning for the position to allow the APC to make a formal announcement as to where the position had been zoned to and stop name-dropping out of their desperation for the position.
