Yobe: It is Unconstitutional to Swear-in a Governor Thrice – PDP Candidate, Waziri
The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Yobe State, Adamu Waziri, has vowed to challenge in court the declaration of Governor Ibrahim Gaidam as winner of the April 11 governorship election in the state. Waziri, who is former Minister of Police Affairs, insisted that Gaidam, who contested and won re-election on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, would be sworn-in as the Governor of Yobe State for a third time on May 29. It would be recalled that Governor Gaidam was first sworn-in as the state governor on January 27, 2009 following the death of the then governor, Senator Mamman Ali. After completing late Ali’s tenure, he contested and won election on April 26, 2011 on the platform of now defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, and was sworn-in a second time on May 29, 2011. Alhaji Waziri, who garnered 179,700 votes during the just concluded guber poll, believes that it is unconstitutional for Governor Gaidam to be sworn-in a third time.
